Hey everyone, Whoa! I can not believe the last time I posted a blog was march 19th! so much has gone on.
First of all, I have a new job working for the nyc parks department, yeah, me, A city employee, who would have thought eh? Well, first off, of course it's not my dream job, but it pays better then my old seasonal job, also there are some benefits to it... while it may be temporary, there is a possibility that I will get an extension after my time is up working for them in September.... from where I am standing, if I have to be there after my time is up I would do it if I am not where I want to be, which is a clerical position, or maybe graphics design, hell, give me a desk, some papers and a computer anyday over a rake, a broom and a dust pan! Lmaoo!
Last week I think I said I would write about the situation but I was just so tired that I barely turned my computer on all week. Basically, I did an orientation to get into the park we had to fill out a bunch of papers, we had people talking to us about different things that are expected of us, ya know, the basics.. then after that we were put on the filed to be trained for a week, The very 1st day we started it was pouring down rain, cold, it was just plain bad.. I first of all did not know they would start us off to work that same morning so I wasn't dressed properly, and I still had to go out in the rain to pick up nothing.. thats what I feel it was, because there was no garbage in sight where we were, I think that was mainly a test to see who would stay and who would leave... imagine, being outside in cold rain with pokers trying to find things to pick up.. wtf? I was cold, and frustrated, but I made it through the day, we got to leave early.. they probably felt bad that we were freezing and let us leave..
The whole training process was not an easy one, Another hard day, Was one where we had to put some wood chips onto bald patches on the ground.. I don't know how many hours we did that for but it felt like forever! And only to find out that we do have to do things like that but just not all the time.. its mostly sweeping, raking, garbage pick up, moping, all in all these are things I have done even when I am not working, so its not that hard of a job.. yeah it can be tiring especially when you are strictly mobile.. which means you go from park to park in your given district to clean via car with your supervisor or whoever they send with you.. from what I know, I am at a fixed post, But if needed I will go on mobile as well..
All in All this experience has been a good one.. I made a lot of new friends, I've met many different people.. I am slowly leaving my isolated phase which I was stuck in for the year I wasn't working.. I did meet up with friends at times, Call people and etc, but there wasn't much interaction with new people, now I have that.. I feel good, tired, but better then I have been doing.. I am glad to have been blessed with good luck this year and I hope it continues as I keep on this path to where I want to be in life..
XoXo

It was nice to hear where you work. And I'm sure you'll find that office job someday :) That's so true that when not working you don't really meet new people anywhere..
